MIKE THE HEADLESS CHICKEN FESTIVAL – Fruita, 31st-June 1st – This quirky festival celebrates an infamous bird. In 1945 a farmer lopped off his chicken’s head but the chicken continued to live for another 18 months. Hundreds of people gather and take part in activities in honor of Mike the Headless Chicken, to include games, live music, pancake breakfast, 5k run, wing and peeps eating contest for kids.

BALLOON FESTIVAL – Telluride, 31st-June 2nd – In its 41st year, this festival is one of the most beautiful to witness. The balloons gently float above the gorgeous alpine town. Be sure to view the Balloon glow Saturday night on Main street.
