MONTROSE COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER – located approximately 6 minutes away from Cobble Creek Golf Community.  The newest and largest facility in Western Colorado. It houses a 5000 square foot weight room and fitness center with group fitness classes.  The facility has an indoor walk/jog track with a hill and stair course, 3 gyms, a climbing wall, game room, racquetball courts, pickleball courts, as well as a lap pool with diving boards and leisure pools.  Kids can enjoy an indoor playground and child-care is available.  If you need to mend, there is a hot water wellness pool along with therapy space.  Enjoy the outdoor trails available around the perimeter along with outdoor green space for a total 82,000 square feet.

MONTROSE RECREATION DISTRICT FIELD HOUSE – Located approximately 7 minutes from Cobble Creek Golf Community. This facility houses aquatic operations with indoor and outdoor pools.  It also includes indoor turf fields and batting cage.

MONTROSE WATER SPORTS PARK – Approximately 9 minutes away from the community it consists of 1,000 feet of river channel.  One of the largest in the state, it’s designed for use by beginners to experts in several water sports and meets ADA standards.  A beach area is available for those wanting to relax.

FLEX REC – Approximately 8 minutes away.  This facility features top-of-the-line fitness equipment including Xult Fitness, kettlebells, barbells, Assault bikes and rowing machines.  Classes are held by experienced coaches and personal trainers.  This facility is designed for beginners to advanced athletes.

Additional Parks and Recreation Centers in Montrose

UTE/MCNEIL FIELD COMPLEX – The complex is one of the furthest with an 11-minute drive from Cobble Creek Clubhouse.  It contains lighted softball fields used to accommodate adult and youth leagues.  Additional space is available for soccer, baseball and lacrosse.  The farmhouse on the property was converted into the district’s administrative headquarters and the barn is used for storage of equipment.  The complex also has improved access for fishing and other nature opportunities.

CERISE PARK – This park is a 5-minute drive from Cobble Creek.  Several acres are used for soccer fields and the rest is multi-purpose.

HOLLY PARK – This property is 5 acres about 5 minutes away.  Facilities includes open areas, lighted softball field, playground, zip line, handball courts and a building which houses concessions, restrooms and maintenance.

BIKE ROUTES and TRAILS – There are numerous routes and trails all through the city for biking or walking.  Please refer to the trail map to learn more.

MONTROSE COUNTY EVENT CENTER – Largest of its kind between Denver and Salt Lake City. The event center is over 110,580 square feet of versatile event space in two complexes offering 2 arenas.  It hosts a multitude of events in its banquet and friendship halls, meeting rooms, and kitchens.

COBBLE CREEK CLUBHOUSE WORKOUT CENTER – The Clubhouse workout center is for members of the community.  There is a workout facility that includes weights, workout equipment, Peloton bike, exercise classes, sauna and spa facilities.

Colorado Festivals and Events – February

SKI SPREE – Glenwood Springs, 3rd – The Spree kicks off with a day of skiing.  The evening will include a night torch parade, live music, scavenger hunt, fireworks and more.

BLISTER SUMMIT 2024 – Crested Butte, 4-9th – A one-of-a-kind event bringing skiers and riders together with professional athletes and various brands of ski and snowboards.  Registration for this event includes unlimited gear demos, backcountry tours, panel sessions and more.

VIRTUAL HISTORY SERIES: THE GUNNISON COUNTRY, A MOUNTAIN WONDERLAND, 13-27th – A virtual learning series on the history of the Gunnison Country.

OURAY WINTER WINE FESTIVAL, 17th – Held at the Wright Opera House, attendees will get an intimate experience sampling from 8 wineries, a cider and 3 distilleries all of which are from Colorado’s Western Slope.  Enjoy several culinary offerings while listening to local musicians as well as peruse local retailer displays along with art demonstrations.

TELLURIDE COMEDY FESTIVAL – Telluride, 15-18th – The Sheridan Arts Foundation and Jeb Berrier present the 24th annual Festival at the historic Sheridan Opera House.

TELLURIDE GAY SKI WEEK – Telluride, 24-2nd – Gay Ski Week is a week-long celebration of equality, inclusivity and awareness features tons of activities to showcase the community. Activities include ice skating, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, shopping, spa treatments, yoga and more.

HEATHEN CHALLENGE – Glenwood Springs, 25th – The longest continuously run Colorado ski mountaineering race is back for 2024.  The race takes place at Sunlight Mountain Resort and combines backcountry skiing and skinning.

FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK – Montrose Center for the Arts – A new art exhibit opens to the public on the first Friday of each month.  The featured artist is at the opening and available to speak with.  There is also live music, catered snacks and beverages.
